A Normal Habit of Reading the Bible, M.P. I'm 24 years old and just about to complete my last semester in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim (FTTA). The paths that God took me through to get here include getting a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Texas, working for a year in engineering, and part time work in the Texas Army National Guard for six years as a paralegal. These things are all nice but they don't compare with serving the Lord Jesus. The reason I came to the FTTA is because (due to God's mercy) I love Jesus Christ. A lot of people love Jesus Christ and I'm not better than anybody, but I'm grateful to the Lord for taking care of me and revealing more and more of Himself to me up to today. He is such a hidden and mysterious God, yet He speaks, He expresses Himself, He manifests Himself in His Word (the Bible), in my daily life, and in other people. One of the things I've enjoyed and appreciated so much in these last two years during the Training is getting to know God through His marvelous Word. I love to read the Bible. What enjoyment, what nourishment, and what light! Before coming to the FTTA I already read the Bible. However, I simply did not have the dedicated time to dive into it. Also, here I received more of a desire and hunger to read the Word. This is partly due to the environment in the Training. I love being surrounded with Christian brothers and sisters who honor the Bible, regard it so highly, and just plain read it. All of our classes are rooted in the Word. And we are also encouraged to pursue an aggressive reading schedule ourselves. In the Training I've enjoyed and appreciated learning not to become special or above others but to simply be a functioning member of the Body of Christ (Romans 12:4-5). This matter of reading the Bible and enjoying God in His Word has become such a normal habit for me. Thank God for His marvelous speaking to us in His Word.
